See the Imperial College report –
If I read this correctly the conclusion of this report is that a policy of doing nothing is not feasible as it would overwhelm health care services by May this year whereas a robust suppression strategy would stop overwhelm of health services, and consequently deaths, in the short term but, absent a vaccine, would lead to a resurgence of the infection once the measures are relaxed.
About This Blog
I write because I write just as I run because I run. I write on social media because it’s there and I’m here. I run on the streets of Newham because they’re there and I’m here. Sometimes what I say in my writing is risky as it may challenge assumptions and sensitivities. Sometimes running the streets before dawn or at midnight may be considered risky. But I’ve never been attacked on the streets of Newham.
Risk is a part of life and growth. It is a little puzzling that older people are more risk adverse that the young. We, after all, have fewer potential years to lose. I once thought about taking up moterbike riding or parkour or skateboarding but writing and running are enough.
Someone said to me that old people have experience and young people have potential. I observed that old people have potential too and young people have experience too. Young people have an experience of the present time, of the moment and milieu, that is quite unique, while old (or if you like ‘older’) people have a potential for transformation, for taking past experience and consciousness of the suchness of the present moment to stand outside of the temporal and measurable and simply be.
52 Netstorms is a resolution to take my writing to another level. It is a resolution to write a serious article, an essay of around 1000 words, each week for the next 52 weeks.
The subjects of the essays will vary widely and include interviews, reviews and analyses written from personal, political and philosophical perspectives. The essays will be an adjunct to my own learning and reflections on learning.
I have called myself a writer and a runner but in truth I have been a blogger and a jogger. Over the next 52 weeks my resolve is to use writing and running to become rather more.
